Great Human Race 5k Run and Community Walk

Durham’s Great Human Race - Running Strong for 16 Years
The Volunteer Center of Durham is coordinating the 2011 Great Human Race on Saturday, March 26th at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. The annual 5K Race and 5K Community Walk is a fundraising event for area non profit organizations; more than 125 groups have pre-registered to participate in the 16th anniversary of the event. The Great Human Race has helped raise more than $1.3 million for area nonprofits.
In addition to the race and community walk, entertainment will be provided by Durham Divas, the Northern High School Step Team and the Durham Chorale. The children’s area includes an inflatable playground with obstacle course and bounce house in addition to face painting and other activities. Last year’s event hosted approximately 3,000 participants.
The 5K (3.1 mile) route begins and ends at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park and traverses parts of Forest Hills and the American Tobacco Trail.
Registration begins at 7 am. The 5K Race begins at 8:30 am with the Community Walk commencing once the runners pass the ballpark entrance. For more information and to register and/or make a donation for the 2010 Great Human Race, visit http://www.greathumanrace.org
