Carolina Wonderland Express

This year’s Carolina Wonderland Express exhibition at the Museum of Life and Science in Durham is sure to immerse visitors in the holiday spirit! Visitors are invited to travel through a wintery Carolina from the Blue Ridge Mountains to the Crystal Coast and to command the rails by driving Thomas the Tank Engine, Percy and other trains and trolleys. The exhibit has an old-town feel. Steam and diesel engines traverse mountains, cross bridges and pass popular destinations such as Kitty Hawk, Hatteras… Show more Light House, and the Swinging Bridge. Trains chug along more than 400 feet of rails while a trolley passes by from above. The mood is further set as time shifts from day to night - holiday lights glisten and trains whistle by. There is also a lookout tower which offers visitors an up-close view of the trolley line.
