The Elon School of Communications invites paper submissions and panel proposals on any aspect of media and religion for the 4 th annual conference to be held on the Elon University campus. A major focus of the conference will be on interfaith communication.
Conference Topics: Â Papers and panels may be on any topic that considers the connection between media and religion, including interfaith issues, international perspectives, papers on popular culture and religion, and the intersection of faith… Show more and new or traditional media forms.Â
Papers dealing with any faith tradition are welcomed. Research papers and panels should not have been submitted to or accepted by another conference.
Paper Guidelines:Â Entries must be no longer than 25 pages of text, double-spaced, in 12-point type, excluding notes. The Chicago Manual of Style is preferred.
Papers should be submitted electronically as either an MS Word document with author identification and affiliation on a title page only . Each paper must be submitted as an attachment with a 100-word abstract and contact information in the text of the email to Professor Anthony Hatcher: ahatcher@elon.edu . Authors may submit only one paper. Selected research papers may be included in a proposed scholarly book.
Panel Guidelines:  Proposals should be submitted electronically as a 1-2 page attachment, either a PDF or MS Word document. Panel proposals should include: 1) a brief description; 2) names and affiliations of moderator and participants; 3) a brief summary of each participant’s presentation. Submissions Deadline: Both paper and panel entries are due on Nov. 1, 2012. Â Authors of accepted papers must attend the Media and Religion Conference. The conference will include a Friday evening keynote address and presentations all day on Saturday. A preregistration website with keynote speaker and lodging details is forthcoming. The format of the conference will include a keynote address on Friday evening, followed by the scholarly paper and panel sessions on Saturday.
