the songs of harvard mathematics professor tom lehrer (ithe vatican rag/i, inational brotherhood week/i, inew math/i, ithe masochism tango/i and many more) delighted audiences world-wide during the 1950s and 1960s.
Mr. Lehrer's music was also heard on nbc's cutting edge comic news show ithat was the week that was/i, as well as on the childrens television workshop show ithe electric company/i (isilent e/i, il-y/i).
Now, this timeless revue, created in 1984 by cats/phantom of the opera producer cameron mackintosh based on lehrer's hilariously cynical songs, comes to north carolina for the first time in october. The eight-person local cast will take you on a comic voyage the likes of which you have never been on before pollution, love, religion, sex, intolerance, nuclear power no subject is sacred in mr. Lehrer's slightly off-center world!
