When 9 (Elijah Wood) springs to life, it finds itself in a post-apocalyptic world where humans no longer exist, and the only signs of life are sentient rag dolls like itself and the machines that hunt them. Though it is the youngest of the group, 9 convinces comrades that the only way to survive against the machines is to stop hiding, go on the offensive, and find out why the machines want to destroy them. As 9 and the group learn, civilization hinges on their success or failure.

Movie theaters showing 9 near Raleigh,NC:
The movie 9 is a brilliant movie created by Shane Acker. Fact is Tim Burton was only a producer in the movie. Don’t take that as in it isn’t good movie, it is one of the best, and if not the best movie I have ever seen.
It is a Si-Fi movie that takes place in a possible future. All of life has been lost and nine creations awaken. You start by watching "9" wake up and is just as confused as he is. Slowly the story is played in an easy to understand matter.
The artwork is gorgeous; it portrays amazing scenery and follows the theme directly. The music runs perfectly with each scene and adds even more emotion to the movie. The movie is intense and very dramatic. You fall in love with the characters and can deeply connect with all of them.
No, this movie is not for kids, if the rated PG13 isn’t enough to warn you for that, the intense monsters, and deep symbolism may be too much for young children. Also many characters die. .
Emotionally I loved this movie, it couldn’t be any better. Many reviews claim that it has poor dialoged, but the simply makes it seem more realistic, and believable.
Honesty this movie made me cry, I know CRY! I have never cried over any movie before, but the beauty truly touched me. I literally had to drive out the next day and see it again. The movie has locked me in interest and I continue to want to see it again. I know I will defiantly own this movie when it is on DVD.
Overall the movie is very sad, but if you can handle the deaths and find more meanings in them, then I guarantee you will adore this movie such as I have.

There are two movies coming out this fall using the number nine as a title. The first one, out today, uses it as a numeric symbol, while the second one, a musical that stars Daniel Day-Lewis and a bunch of Oscar-winning women, spells it out. But I believe the latter film will be friendlier to kids, even though the former is a CGI-animated feature starring cute, little characters. (Full review)
