Gianni and Gaitano’s

8311 Creedmoor Rd., Raleigh, NC, 27616
(919) 847-8223

A restaurant, a vision, a passion, that keeps on growing and evolving. We (Gianni and Gaitano) are the younger brothers of Joseph and Peter Cinelli and the proud sons of Amelia and Armando Cinelli - two Italian immigrants who brought their three young sons (Giuseppe, Pietro and Gianni) to America from a mountainside town called Monte San Giovanni, just outside of Rome. We also have a sister AnnaMaria who resides for now in Florida, but that's another story. Monte San Giovanni is known as the "Cittia di Oliva", the City of Olives. We just found out this year that the Castle that sits on top of the mountain was owned by the St. Thomas Aquinas family. There, St. Thomas Aquinas was actually imprisoned by his own mother so he wouldn't take up a life as a holy man and instead marry a countess so the family fortunes would grow. Ironically, through the opportunities and wealth gained here in the United States, my mother's family, the Mastrantoni's, now own that Castle. The castle and church where we were baptized dates back to the 12th century. This is the time that dates the beginning of a whole town and the people who have lived there. The Cinelli family traces back to Florence and has a history of military importance. It is said that at one time the Cinelli family ancestors were the "Captain of the Guard" in the Florentine army. Today, we are trying to gather proof to tie in many families of Northern ancestry to Monte San Giovanni and the castle that is called Castello Rocco, the "Castle of Rock." The castle itself literally comes out of the mountain and sits so high it was used for military purposes. Hence the town was created for military defensives during the 11th & 12th century and families were gathered to protect and serve. This connects our family and many others that have wondered how they wound up in this little mountain town.

Terrible Service and Unbelievable Experience

We went to G&G's last Saturday night to enjoy a glass of wine and dinner at the bar with friends (Creedmoor Road location)... something we do often since we live right down the street. Even though we were virtually the only people dining at the bar, it took the bartendar a very long time to take our order, and to refill our drinks. Around 10pm, the bar area quickly transitioned into "dance club," complete with very loud rap music -- so loud that we couldn't finish our wine and meals because we couldn't hear each other talking. It wasn't crowded at all, but we got our check and said goodnight, and as we walked out of the bar, the DJ said into the microphone "Get out, WHITES!" We couldn't believe we heard that... from a neighborhood Italian eatery we patronized regularly for the past year. Suffice to say we will never frequent Gianni & Gaitano's again. With an experience like that, I would be happy to see something else in that location within 6 months.

Poor Customer Relations

We went to Gianni and Gaitano's in Wakefield Commons. The service was horrible. When the server brought our meals (there were 6 of us) one of the meals was missing. The server said it would be right out. Many minutes passed when the server, again, assured us the meal would be brought out. The rest of us had finished our meals. The server apologized and said that the manager would probably take the meal off the bill. Minutes later the meal came, and we immediately asked for a box to take it. Then the server came back with the bill and said the manager would NOT take the meal off the bill. We asked to speak to him. Many minutes later he finally came to our table already showing an attitude. We explained the situation to him, but he refused to take the meal off the bill and said, "It's bad business to give away free food". REALLY?? I would think it would be good for business to make amends for poor service!! He finally agreed to take the meal off the bill "THIS TIME"! When we were getting ready to leave we instructed the server to give the uneaten meal back to the manager!

Terrible Service

Went to Gianni and Gaitano's on Creedmoor and was horrified by the terrible service. We were told it would be 10-15 min for a table despite seeing 5+ open tables, they explained there were understaffed that nite. We sat down and eventuall received bread and ice-water but no one took our order, we asked to see our server twice and were told by a waiter he didnt know who our server was and would like to "help us out" but he was too busy. We asked to see the manager but he never came by and after 35min we decided to leave no having ever placed our order!!!

EXTREMELY POOR SERVICE, POOR MANAGEMENT!!!
