The Pour House is Poor house

The pour house in Raleigh was a big disappointment. It certainly did not provide anything worthwhile for entertainment. The place is tacky and does not open till 9 pm on a Saturday night. After being let in through a narrow alley, you enter a dark room which resembled someone’s garage turned hastily into a make shift bar. The deco on both levels was tacky, dirty and I am sure the limited furniture there was, did not see a duster for many moons. The crowd was mixed which surprised me. After a long hiatus of 40 minutes, the first girl band finally showed up and gave a mediocre performance. Then the second hiatus started which lasted for about 30 minutes. The second girl band spent an eternity in setting up their equipment. When they finally started, the music was more suitable for old peoples retirement home than for a Saturday night entertainment. I got the feeling the bands were trying to do a job than enjoy what they were doing. They were too self congratulatory for their mediocrity. The crowd had limited expectations from them, which obviously helped their achievements. By then my patience finally snapped and I made my escape. I will mark the Pour House in Raleigh as one to be definitely missed.
