Venue Review: Mediterranean Deli

Greg Cox reviews Mediterranean Deli
By "Greg Cox"
Triangle.com

This popular Franklin Street deli offers the area's widest selection of Middle Eastern fare, from familiar dishes such as hummus, tabbouleh and baba ghanoush to more unusual offerings such as artichoke moussaka, curried cabbage and okra stewed in a cinnamon-accented tomato sauce. Gyros is excellent, as is grilled chicken souvlaki with pineapple (get them both on the mixed grill platter). Good selection of Middle Eastern pastries. Fluorescent-lit atmosphere isn't particularly romantic, but it's clean and friendly. No alcohol.
