Venue Review: Elmo's Diner

Greg Cox reviews Elmo's Diner

Elmo's prides itself on its family-friendly atmosphere and its menu of honest food served in generous portions. The menu, identical at both locations, is a mingling of fifties diner fare and seventies health food, which makes a surprisingly refreshing combination for the nineties. The selection includes sandwiches, salads and house-made soups, and eat-your-veggie incentives such as apple pie and banana pudding. There's also an assortment of "Square Meals" ranging from meatloaf to salmon cakes to chicken and dumplings - all bargain priced at around $6-$7, including bread and your choice of two vegetables.
