First Visit: Initialy, we were questioning why it was empty at 8pm on a Wednesday, we found out soon enough. We ordered the Galuti Kabob (lamb) and let's just say it was basically microwaved lamb sausage. It was not "homemade" or "made from scratch" as their advertisements say. This was not worth the $8.95. The Dosai was also cold when it was brought out to us and it barely had any stuff inside ($8.95 for barely anything). We order the Chicken tikka and the Chicken Vindaloo (they ran out of lamb, which is odd since we were able to get the kabobs). These are the two most common indian dishes around, yet they tasted as if someone very inexperienced had cooked it. The rice which came with our food was very cold. My take on the horrible experience: They ran out of the lamb because everyone ate the portions they made in the morning during the lunch buffet. The remainder of the day's lunch buffet unfortunately became our dinner. With their dismal dinner crowd, I can see why they are cutting corners and reheating their food.
Second Visit: Only reason we went was because we had a Restaurant . com Gift Card. BE warned, even if you purchase a $25 gift card for $4, don't use it at this place. I'd rather let my $4 go to waste. I learned the hard way. This time, there was one other couple there, other than us. The somosas were actually decent and I was starting to think it was a fluke that we had such a bad expeience last time. I was wrong. Again the Dosai was cold and unfilling. Another traditional dish, Alu Ghobi, was barely cooked as the cauliflower was still raw. I can't get how they can mess up classical indian dishes.
WORST PART: WARNING!!!! WARNING!!!! They modified the total amount on the credit card receipt after I left the restaurant. The store next door is MORE EXPENSIVE than other indian stores. DO NO EAT OR SHOP HERE. ME: Indian, 29, Uncle owns indian restaurant in DC. I wonder who those are who left 5 star reviews.
